Maschio’s menus vigorously meet the standards set forth by the USDA under the Healthy Hunger – Free Kids Act of 2010.
Maschio’s provides students who are identified with life-threatening food allergies a customized menu created by staff registered dietitians. Once the student’s physician submits a completed Maschio’s medical statement form, one of our registered dietitians will create a customized menu and provide the specific manufacturer ingredient labels for the parent/guardian to review and approve. Following parental/guardian approval, Maschio’s will put in place all necessary safeguards for that student’s meal including special meal handling procedures and cross-contamination prevention training with the cafeteria manager and cafeteria staff.
I strive to provide balanced, nutritious meals that kids enjoy.
Lorraine Kunick, MPH, RDN, Director of Nutrition, oversees the staff of dietitians and is responsible for insuring Maschio’s compliance with USDA meal patterns by analyzing district breakfast and lunch menus. Lorraine helped develop Maschio’s Food Allergy Protocol and maintains the company’s high standard in communications of all nutrition information provided to parents, students, nurses, and school administrators.
More than 170 foods have been reported to cause allergic reactions in the U.S.
The safe menu may take a couple of weeks to implement, in the meantime, we ask that lunch is packed from home. We also recommend that students with life-threatening food allergies avoid purchasing snack items as these are more likely to come into contact with allergens during manufacturing.
